It is standard practice at most paintball fields to have a single price to come and play at the field and to encourage as many groups and individuals as possible to come and join in. The result can be very large groups and a good profit for the day. Some players like the excitement of the large group atmosphere.
Although this practice makes business sense, we have chosen to run the Dunes in a different manner.
We have found that the best events are with groups of 12 to 20 players. 16 is an ideal size of group. Once a group becomes larger than 20, things start to get impersonal. The ideal is to have a group of friends out to have an exciting outdoor tag game. As groups get too large, paintball turns into a battle between cliques and simply a collection of individuals out for exciting target practice.
Paintball may look a lot like "war" but it is very much a group activity, and not necessarily negative. If the activity is run well and size is limited, a super exciting environment where friends can have a good time together and get to know each other better, is created. Injury is very uncommon. We rarely see hard feelings being generated. And we see friendships being enhanced on a regular basis. The major detail that promotes this situation is that we cater to "groups" and we do not let anything spoil that "group" outing. Quality paintball is where you play with people you know, and want to be friends with.
We have groups which combine 8 year olds up to 60 year olds. It works because clients only ask other players who they know will fit in, and be responsible. They know we aren't going to foul up their plans by mixing their group with unknown personalities.
Our policy of giving groups exclusive bookings is the main feature of "Personalized Paintball". To this base we add a central Safe Zone, well organized service, and lots of features to create an exciting atmosphere. Stimulation beats boredom for enhancing group relations, and we work hard to keep the flow of innovations coming! The central Safe Zone is critical to enhance social interaction. In some ways, this little oasis, is as vital to an event as the actual playing field! The stories and exclamations triggered by the battle adventures must be told and the Safe Zone is where most of the friendship building occurs.
It is our goal to send groups away happy -- to provide an Adventure that builds groups. Focusing on individual groups, and then on individuals within that group, is what makes it happen. We have hung a name on the approach: "Personalized Paintball"!
