Most clients are simply after our tried and true private events. Great! This page tosses up a few additional ideas. If you see something that looks like it might work for you, call and I will try to make something happen.
Indoor Lasertag: We have assembled a radical new Indoor Lasertag system that attempts to make a civic center gym or school gym seem like a large outdoor field. We have built two original Merrill Dunes game systems (Hot Potato & Energy Crisis) that we feel will prove to be highly popular. We can run the systems at places like the Field House tennis courts, Cosmo CC gym, or Shaw Center gyms. The system is also practical for mobile outdoor use. Gym rental is about $45/hr. This system is good to go immediately. If the idea looks interesting, call and discuss the matter. So far all such events are custom projects as we have no std pricing system yet. The Hot Potato is a terrifying marvel and Energy Crisis will burn up huge globs of calories! The games are sure to quickly become Olympic standards!!
Our tried and true Private Paintball Events - 2 hr or 3 hr - our private paintball events are unlike anything else available in the Saskatoon area and have been the Dunes staple event for 15 years. What you get for your dollar dwarfs anything else around not to mention the quality of the "group event". Our moto "We Build Groups" is not hollow hype. Merrill Dunes was built to give groups a positive experience, not as a $ driven mass production processing line. Our cold weather expertise allows us to provide quality outings by the middle of March, unlike any other local field. Pricing and details for these events is given on our price pages.
Soft Hit Paintball - identical to regular Private Paintball Events but using 50 calibre paintballs and guns. There is no price difference - it is just that the pea sized paintballs are a bit easier on the skin! It isn't wise to schedule soft hit events until into April as the ammo is not made for cold weather use. The 50 calibre experience is neat. The guns are really light and great for younger players. The range and accuracy and fun is just like regular paintball.
Our outdoor Private Lasertag Events - usually 2 hrs - each year our laser events get better. The 7 acre field is wired and is like a huge video game complete with human interaction, exercise, fresh air, barricades galore, and all sorts of technical gadgetry. Our brand of lasertag is a copy of paintball outings less the projectiles, welts, and mess! The term "Private" needs to be eyed carefully in that "Dunes Private" is PRIVATE. How others use the term should be checked out to avoid frustration. Pricing is on the website. Outdoor laser usually isn't practical until into April.
Private Airsoft Events - we are considering offering airsoft events that would be mirror images of our paintball events but using airsoft guns. Time duration and cost would be similar to paintball with the slight plus that extra ammo would be much cheaper. We can be flying on this offering with a few days warning but we will not get a rental fleet of guns until we get some feedback on what clients want. By March 15 we should have a clear policy established.
An approach to consider for teams is a "self serve airsoft event". We have done several self serve events where players provide their own equipment and ammo and we simply provide the field, game systems, and event management. So many kids have their own airsoft gear that this might be an economic option for team events. Cost would be $15/player for a 2 hr event - $20/player for a 3 hr event. If demand appears to exist, we would have gun and mask rentals available for those who lack equipment. The down side of this plan is that there would be a wild variation in the quality of equipment that each player had to use. That can make for friction that makes for less than a perfect outing. And that final wrap-up needs to be a highlight!
Ride, Hunt, Skeet, Fight, or any of the items in the list! Great for kids as young as 6 yrs. We have the capacity to put on hunting safaris using pop-up targets and 3D archery targets. Hunters can be equipped with a 68 calibre pump gun or the remarkable Splatmaster 50 calibre pump gun. We have an automated Skeet simulator that utilizes the same guns. We have our Mechanical Bull to provide the "ride". And the Splatmasters allow really young players to have a paintball battle with very high levels of excitement and low levels of pain! Come April we hope to have packages defined that allow teams to give young players a real adventure at a low cost. Let me give you a preview!
Your group arrives at a scheduled time. A staff member takes 6 little hunters, equips them with safety masks and Splatmaster paintball guns (the website has photos of Splatmaster gear and events) and guides them on a forest circuit that is teeming with deer, wild boar, bear, and pop-up targets. Everyone will survive but the resulting hunting stories will sound life threatening! Meanwhile, six other cowboys will tackle Tauker, the mechanical bull. Dangerous? Only low speeds are used and the air cushion enclosure makes Tauker into a gentle calf, as far as risk goes. 6 other adventurers will take on the Skeet machine at the shooting alley as well as testing their skill on some pop-up targets. Finally, after each group has worked their way through these three activities, there should be time for a short Splatmaster Battle in our 3rd Field Combat Zone. About of 1 hr of adrenalin pumping action will be over and it is our hope to deliver this package for betweent $15.00 to $20.00/player. The events will potentially be available April 13 and on following Sundays. We are still evaluating the menu item and customer response will tip the scale on go or no-go. We have the capacity - it is a case of putting staffing together to make it happen.
We will try to arrange our system such that groups can pick and choose event segments. Maybe you want to skip the battle session or only do the Hunt and Ride segments. We will try to have a pricing system to allow flexibility. Just getting the kids out into the country and letting them cook a weiner is a feature in itself. The Merrill Forest area is a pleasant location with minimal mosquitos and ticks!
